THE
SCAVENGER
Role: Lead Game Designer, Artist
The Scavenger is a puzzle parkour platformer developed by a four-man team, A&D.
It takes influence from Megaman and Celeste, with a unique twist of a grappling mechanic.
The Scavenger was finished in 2020 and production took 5 months.
I contributed in the game design, especially with the grappling hook mechanic, which was quite difficult to balance, considering that our team was quite determined on allowing the player to grapple anywhere they can see, instead of restricting them to grappling on certain spots only.
Another role I assumed was the artist role. I took part in creating the UI, the enemy and props around the levels. I also contributed into concepting the levels from scratch.

Welcome to The Scavenger
The first thing the player will see is the menu. I took part in creating the main menu art.

Unique Grappling Mechanic
Mimicking a grappling hook, the unique grappling mechanic allows the player to grapple anywhere in their range.

Cave filled with vegetation
The Scavenger starts off by getting trapped in a cave filled with plants from a jungle.

Level 1 brings the player into a hidden laboratory in the cave.
There, the player has to push blocks around to unlock doors, all while watching out for slimy enemies.

"PARKOUR"
In the second level, the player has to platform through obstacles while getting chased by a lava wall that kills them instantly.
